Have your roots planted deep in Christ. Grow in Him... –Colossians 2:7 NLV
Addictions, depression, anger, insecurities, bad habits, and financial problems: What do all these things have in common? Each of these life issues is only a symptom of an underlying problem. Often people try to deal with these symptoms without facing the underlying problem and never experience true freedom.
Think of a weed. If you only cut the growth of the weed, it will keep returning. It’s only when you pull up the root of the weed that it cannot return. The same is true in your life. If you are dealing with anger, find the source. Do you have an addiction you can’t beat? Often an addiction is a way to escape from a deeper pain.
The good news is when you face these deep-rooted issues you will experience true freedom and healing. There are plenty of ways to face your giant by turning to God, seeking wise counsel, studying scripture, and surrounding yourself with community through church or small groups. Stop trying to fix your symptoms. Instead, dig out the unhealthy roots in your life and re-root yourself in Christ. You can overcome your obstacle!
Pray for God to give you a new perspective on "solving your problems".
Thank God for the freedom you can find in Him!
