A simple search of the word “wisdom” in the book section of Amazon produces over 800,000 results. With 32,000 titles on Business & Money, 6000 titles on self-help and personal transformation, and another 62,000 topics on political and social issues, it seems wisdom is a subject that draws interest from all types of people.However, without even realizing it, sometimes the subtle and unconscious desire to find wisdom grows from a “What’s in it for me?” attitude. That is, people may look for wisdom in order to find the instructions needed to get ahead in life.Proverbs 2 corrects this attitude by pointing out the real, and most valuable, result of a life devoted to pursuing the wisdom found in God’s Word. Verse five clearly states that the result of pursuing God’s wisdom is not primarily tangible, earthly benefits. But, through the diligent pursuit of wisdom, understanding, and godly insight, we will personally know and gain a solid understanding of the awesomeness of our God.
