Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. –Psalm 127:1 NIV
Who Is Your Builder?
A house is only as good as the one who builds it. Shabby construction, cut corners, and cheap materials make a ramshackle structure at best. On the opposite end of the spectrum is a master craftsman full of integrity, who is able to build a house capable of withstanding all storms.
When a fireplace is built, mortar is used between the bricks. Mortar is chosen because it has special properties that allow it to become even stronger when exposed to heat. This is why we often see a fireplace standing even when the house has burned down.
Shouldn’t our spiritual house be just as strong? Who is building our spiritual house? Are we trying to do it with our own strength? Are we building on a weak foundation due to our limited knowledge? Do we have the right tools to build a life that can’t be shaken by the storms that come? Do we get stronger when the heat of the battle burns to the ground everything around us?
Unless the Lord builds the house, we labor in vain (Psalm 127:1). Why not let the Master Craftsman do it His way? When all else is done, stand. We will be able to withstand the heat of the battle, and we can survive all the storms that life throws at us. The blueprints are formed in the Master’s hands.
Pray for the Father to build your life His way, brick by brick.
When storms come, trust His promises to protect you. He will not fail you, ever!
