For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. –Isaiah 9:6 NIV
What wonderment the shepherds must have felt with all of God’s glory surrounding them, as the angels announced to them about the birth of the King of kings. As they were hearing the good news about the Savior’s birth, they probably fell to their knees, then to their faces in awe.
Not far off in a manger was the Child wrapped in swaddling cloths (Luke 2:12). Mary, His mother, held Him tight, tenderly kissing His hands then His face, not even knowing she was kissing the face of her Savior.
Oh, what a wonderful day that was when the Savior was made known to the world. There was applause in Heaven, and there were angels singing praises when He was born. Jesus left the riches of glory to come to this earth for one purpose, to die for you and for me.
Let us honor our King and bow before Him not only throughout the Christmas season but through every season in our lives. Let us surrender all that we are and give Jesus all the praise and honor He deserves, for after all, He is the King of kings. Amen.
- Jesus, help me to surrender all that I am to You so I can know You in a deeper way.
- Holy Spirit, make me more sensitive to Your voice and let this holiday season be a season of consecration for my life.
