Walk in God’s Authority

Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise -Hebrews 10:35-36 NKJV

The phrase “do not cast” refers to soldiers cowardly throwing their weapons in defeat. In life’s battles, there are two kinds of soldiers: those who give up before the end of the battle and those who stand their ground and never give up.

Those who never give up are soldiers who operate with power and authority because they trust in the authorities over them who have called them to stand firm and not quit. Through your relationship with Jesus, you too have power and authority and can stand firm (Luke 9:1).

As an umbrella enables you to walk through a storm and not get wet when you remain under it, you are able to walk through life’s storms when you order your life under God’s authority. You walk in God’s power and with His authority when you properly align your life in His will and remain under Him.

Luke 4:32-36 says Jesus speaks with authority and what He commands, happens. Only through your relationship with God do you have that same power and authority. If you’ve been feeling defeated, tempted to throw down your weapons and walk away, don’t!

You have been empowered, so speak up! Speak God’s Word aloud to yourself; begin stepping out in faith to spread His love to others; and make time in your day to spend with the One who gives you all authority.

Prayer Focus

  • Thank God for His empowerment that equips you with power and authority.
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to encourage you to speak out God’s Word so that what you command in Jesus’ Name happens.
