Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. –Psalm 51:10 NIV
A new year is approaching and out comes the list of New Year Resolutions pledging to exercise more, go on a diet, or increase finances. We are determined to make changes. Does our list include reading God’s Word, the Bible, on a daily basis? Do we think about setting time aside each day and respond to God’s call as a believer? It takes dedication and a desire to grow as a Christian more than pleasing our earthly desires.
Psalm 143:8 (NIV) says, “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.” The psalmist is telling you in this verse that the best way to start each day is with a loving God. He will be with you and guide your steps.
If you are sincerely making a commitment to begin your day with God, He is waiting with open arms. Don’t give up. There is no better resolution to make than a spiritual one. When you submit to Him, you are liberated and blessed. Your day will take on a whole new meaning.
