Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. –Hebrews 11:1 NIV
In the movie, Miracle on 34th Street, Natalie Wood learns to believe in Santa. She doesn’t find what she wants under the tree but decides to keep believing anyway. She sits in the back seat of the car discouraged saying, “I believe, I believe.”
Then suddenly, she yells, “Stop the car. Stop the car!” There before her eyes is exactly what she’d wanted. She and her mother lived in an apartment in New York City, and she had always dreamed of a house, not just any house mind you, but a very specific house. There before her eyes was the exact house she’d dreamed of.
How willing are you to keep believing for something even when it looks impossible? How badly do you really want it? Will you give up just before your breakthrough comes? Are you willing to wait, watch, and believe against all odds that God can provide?
Determine in your heart to keep believing, no matter how it looks or how long it takes. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Repeat after me, “I believe, I believe.” No good thing does the Father withhold from those who walk uprightly.
- Believe, and never let doubt cloud your vision.
- Pray for childlike faith, for it pleases your heavenly Father.
