The Gift of Perspective

The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. –Lamentations 3:25-26 NIV

The Gift of Perspective

One of the greatest blessings of getting older is perspective. Older people have a track record to review for proof that God really does care about every detail of life. If that is you, you can probably recall times when God worked out everything perfectly.

You can look back and understand that if things had shaken out the way you had wanted them to at the time, you would have been disappointed with the results. You can see that waiting on God to move was always the right choice, because when you acted hastily or second-guessed His wisdom, you made a big mess. You can see it time and time again.

It usually takes longer than it should for us to trust God with every aspect of our lives, but He never loses His patience with us or stops blessing us, even when we question His goodness, judgment, or motives. He simply continues to give us exactly what we need when we need it so that at some point our spiritual eyes are opened and we can see what He was up to all along—and how much He loved us the whole time.

Ask God to remind you of those times when He produced a greater outcome than you ever could have imagined.

Thank God that He is always faithful.
