The Awkward Years

DECEMBER 13TH, 2020      |      If you are a parent, you know all the different stages kids go through. The terrible twos, the whiny threes, not to mention puberty. We sometimes get frustrated, angry, even overwhelmed with our children, but we never stop loving them.

They can be throwing the biggest tantrum ever, and while we may not like them very much at that moment, we would still lay down our lives for them. They all too soon grow up, mature, and go off on their own. All those years of teaching and training finally pay off as you see them grow and make their own way in life. Love always knew what they would one day become.

Our heavenly Father loves us through all the awkward stages of our lives. He already sees us for who we will become. He sees our potential and our attitude of heart, and He’s always drawing us back to Himself. He’s not phased by our frequent temper tantrums; He just keeps pointing us in the right direction.

No matter what we’ve done or how many times we’ve fallen, He still loves us. All we have to do is repent. When our children come to us for forgiveness, we quickly give it. So does our heavenly Father.

The Awkward Years

As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.

–Psalm 103:13 NIV

Has your child ever fallen asleep in your lap? That peace is exactly what the Father wants with you. He loves you.

You never give up on your kids even when they rebel—just like God never gives up on you. Seek His face, accept His grace, and pray.
