Teach Us to Pray

MAY 11TH, 2021      |    When we think about all the things Jesus did while on earth, it’s mind-boggling. He not only spoke with authority, but He displayed it. He turned water into wine, raised the dead, and healed the sick. He cast out demons, opened blind eyes, and opened deaf ears. He fed thousands with five loaves and two fish, and He never wasted leftovers. He calmed the sea, stilled the storms, and walked on water. The world had never met anyone like Jesus.

The disciples walked with Him for more than three years, and they witnessed firsthand the miracles He performed. In Luke 11, we read that Jesus was praying and the disciples heard Him. When He was finished, one of the disciples asked Him, “Lord, teach us to pray.” They saw that when Jesus prayed, things happened. They didn’t ask Him to teach them how to walk on water, raise the dead, or turn water into wine—they asked Him to teach them how to pray.

Today, we’re still asking Him the same question. We don’t want to settle for vague, general prayers—we want a prayer life that moves mountains. Pray His Word, pray His will, and your mountain will move in His timing.

Teach Us to Pray

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

–Luke 11:1 NIV

Jesus prayed for the Father’s will to be done, not His own. You can too!

Pray to seek God’s will and accept His will, not your own. His is best!
