Take A Stand

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. –1 Corinthians 16:13 NIV

Take A Stand

At a Christian school, a teacher put different signs on the four walls of her classroom. The signs read, “agree, disagree, strongly agree, strongly disagree.” She then told the students that they were to go to the wall that described how they felt about certain statements she would read.

One particular statement was, “Revenge is sweet.” Every kid in the class but one, went to the strongly agree wall. One little girl named Ema went to the strongly disagree wall. When the teacher asked her to explain her position, she simply said, “Jesus said to turn the other cheek.” Can’t you just see the other kids’ eyes rolling? The teacher hugged Ema, and then she told the class that Ema was the only one who truly understood.

It took courage for a fourteen-year-old girl to stand up for her convictions and not cave into peer pressure. We all want to fit in, no matter how old we are. We fear standing out in the crowd.

But if we don’t stand up for what’s right, who will? It takes courage to stand up for what you believe, but it’s so totally worth it. Agree, disagree, strongly agree, or strongly disagree?

Stand for something, or you’ll fall for everything. Pray for courage to stand your ground.

Seek truth and pray for wisdom to hold on to it and avoid the pitfalls of the enemy.
