God Is Your Supplier

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. -John 15:16 NIV

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. -John 15:16 NIV

The Amplified version of today’s verse says, “I have planted you.” Planted and appointed both mean to set or establish. Did you ever go through days when you felt like a fish floundering on the shore trying to get back into the water? For a fish the sea means “air and life”. Living in relationship with the Father is your “air and life”.

Just as it is for a fish, it’s easy to follow something shiny: a new job, a new opportunity, more money, and the promise of stability. It’s also easy to think that’s God’s path. But if you weren’t led in that direction, it will leave you floundering on the shoreline trying to get back to your supply. Maybe you are the fish, floundering about. Declare that you will set your feet firmly on God’s promises and know that He will supply all your needs and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray that God’s grace will remind you to look to Him as the supplier of all your needs.
  • Ask God to help you to have eyes that solely look to Him and a heart that continuously praises His name.
