And walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. –Ephesians 5:2 NIV
The only time my mother ever came to my school was in the first grade. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to come, but she couldn’t because she worked. She took the day off from work to bring cupcakes for my birthday.
She looked so beautiful. She wore heels and a black and white checkered two-piece skirt set. She looked like Jackie Kennedy. She rarely ever wore a dress, for she worked in a factory. All I usually saw her in was jeans and a sweatshirt.
Many things have happened in my life, but the sacrifice she made to be there that day meant the world to me. The gift of time was the best gift ever. Never underestimate how much others appreciate you taking time to put them first, to make them feel important.
A trip to Disney or Universal Studios might be great, but putting the phone down and listening with all your attention can often be greater. Memories don’t come with a price tag, and you can’t buy them online. The Father put you first when Jesus went to the Cross. YOU are most important to Him. Oh, what love He has for me and YOU!
- Don’t let the daily grind get in the way of life. Make memories.
- What do you remember most? Now go do likewise for others.
