The First Step Is the Hardest

God is not a man, that He should tell or act a lie… Has He said and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken and shall He not make it good? -Numbers 23:19 AMP

The first step toward anything is always the hardest, but the greater the outcome, the greater the opposition to begin. You’ll never run a marathon if you never put on your running shoes to train. It’s overwhelming to think about it, but life is a “long haul.” Actually it’s many mini-sprints and a few marathons that make up the long haul.

But the most important part is still the hardest: the beginning, the first step. Wherever you’d like to see yourself in 5 years, 10 years, 2 months or 3 days, you still need to take your first step toward it.

You can’t compare God to people such as your boss, your parent, your friend, or your kid. He does not “promise” something and not follow through.

In Titus 1:3 you will see that God cannot lie. When God makes promises, He will follow through. In His perfect time, according to His perfect will, He will fulfill what He has promised. What has God promised to you? Perhaps your first step toward the fulfilling of it is simply to believe the One who promised it.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray that you would trust and not doubt God.
  • Tell God how thankful you are for His faithfulness.
