Just ask the animals, and they will teach you. Ask the birds of the sky, and they will tell you. Speak to the earth, and it will instruct you. Let the fish in the sea speak to you. –Job 12:7-8 NLT
Smell a Real Rose
“Take time to smell the roses.” Most people have heard this statement, but now with social media ruling our lives, we would much rather look at a picture of a rose on our screens than actually stop and smell a real, live rose when we pass by one along the way.
God’s nature is amazing. Do you take the time to notice the ingenuity it took God to create the many variations of plants, birds, trees, the weather, and even cats? Not only does He surround us with beauty, but He creates a lesson plan for us containing the fundamentals of science, math, geometry, and art, along with character-building lessons of sharing, loving, and providing. At times, we, unfortunately, even learn darker lessons when we encounter illness or death.
Take time to put down your phone, clear your schedule for the day, and take a walk; or simply look out the window and soak in all the beauty that surrounds you. Let the sun shine upon you and the breeze kiss your cheek. Listen to the birds sing and enjoy the smell of real roses.
Ask God to help you to create free time so that you can get outside and enjoy what He made for you.
Spend some time thanking God for His beautiful creations and the lessons He provides within it.
