Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. –Colossians 3:23 NIV
What happens when you ask children to clean their rooms? They often use the “Out of sight, out of mind” technique, shoving everything under the bed or into the closet. At first glance, it’s clean…“kind of.”Do you operate with this “kind of” mentality in your home and where you work? When you clean your house or answer the phone on the job, are you giving your best effort? Our Lord urges each of us that in whatever we do, we are to work at it with all of our hearts, whether cleaning the house, visiting a neighbor, serving in church, or dealing with a difficult person.Ministry is more than just an activity that happens at church. To minister means to serve. When you’re cleaning your house, you’re serving your family; when you’re at work, you’re serving your boss and company. More importantly, in everything you do, you’re serving God. Whether you’re at work, at home, or volunteering, strive to serve with absolute excellence. Do it with a happy face. It may be your work ethic that ultimately leads someone to Christ.
Pray that God gives you opportunities to serve others and Him.
Ask God to help you to recognize areas in your life where you can minister.
