Serve with All Your Heart

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

–Colossians 3:23 NIV

What happens when you ask children to clean their room? They use the “Out of sight, out of mind” technique. They shove everything under the bed or into the closet. At first glance, it’s clean…“kind of.”

Is this “kind of” mentality where you live? When you clean your house or answer the phone at work, are you putting your best work forward? Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, whether you’re cleaning the house, visiting a neighbor, serving in church, or dealing with a difficult person.

Ministry is more than just what happens at church. Ministry means to serve. When you’re cleaning your house, you’re serving your family; when you’re at work, you’re serving your boss and company. More importantly, in everything you do, you’re serving God. Whether you’re at work or volunteering, serve with absolute excellence. Do it with a happy face. It may be your work ethic that leads somebody to Christ.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray that God gives you opportunities to serve others and Him.
  • Ask God to help you see your ministry in your life.
