Saturday | December 28 | A Fractal Life

For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people. –1 Corinthians 14:33 NIV

Everything that is productive has order. Without order you wouldn’t be able to read these words, for they’d just be gibberish. A beautiful symphony would just be random notes, military troops would have no strategy, and football teams would have no plays. Order makes things work. Sometimes our lives feel so out of order that it seems like we’re coming apart at the seams.

Chaos is often the only word that describes our lives. However, there are things going on behind the scenes that we can’t see. Those behind-the-scenes activities are actually bringing order through the chaos. Events that appear totally unrelated are actually intertwined to accomplish a purpose only God can see.

Our lives can be a fractal, organized chaos. Chaos, at times, can actually be the best thing for us. Chaos can teach us to wait, trust, and grow. Our lives are no accident. There is nothing we are now, or ever have experienced, that surprises God. He has been watching over us since before we were born. He has been orchestrating everything, including the outcome of our mistakes and failures, to make our pathway straight, and to bring order to our lives. Organized chaos, the Father’s specialty.

Prayer Focus

  • When in chaos, commit everything to God. He will make your pathways straight.
  • Pray that the Lord will show you His hand even in the midst of troubles.
