Rest

JUNE 11TH, 2020      |    John the Baptist tells us about Jesus in John 3:30 (NIV), “He must become greater; I must become less.” Our true spiritual strength is found when we rest in our Lord. Do you know that the Creator of the universe loves you and wants to show you how to rest in Him? Matthew 11:28-29 (MSG) asks, “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest.”

Relying on your own strength alone can cause you to become worn out. Instead, if you rely on God, He will help you. His peace will cover you no matter what circumstances you are facing. Hebrews 4:9-11 (NIV) tells of a “Sabbath-rest for the people of God.” On Joyce Meyer’s website, she writes, “the rest of God is not a rest from work—it’s a rest in work. It’s partnering with God to do what He is calling you to do by His grace, and leaving the part you can’t do in His hands, trusting Him to do it.”

Rest

This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’”

–Jeremiah 6:16 NIV

When connected to God, we can rest knowing that He will provide all we need.
