“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” -John 15:5 ESV
Knowledge does not create relationships. Knowledge is the fruit of the tree of relationship, but it is not about the fruit. It’s about the mysterious happening that transpires in the effort of gaining the fruit.
Knowledge of God and men, therefore, is both the goal and yet never the destination. The gift God has given His children is the gift of being with Him and being known by Him as a son or daughter. “For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known”. (1 Corinthians 13:12)
So seek knowledge, but never boast in it. Seek truth, but never settle for your understanding of it. And amidst it all, give glory to God for who He is, give praise to God for what He has done, and give thanks to God because you know Him and are known by Him.
- Spend time today resting in God’s presence, thanking Him for his love and goodness.
- If you’re needing wisdom, pray that out of his generosity he will give you all that you need.
