What Do I Do With The Pain?

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. -1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV

It’s easy to be thankful for something when you are given a gift, but what about when you are given a write up or a negative report from your doctor? How do you remain thankful in those times?

Grief is a natural reaction to pain and needed for your healing process but you don’t have to stay in that lonely place. You can turn your focus back to the blessings you do have always remembering that God is still by your side and loves you just as He always has.

Jesus came to set YOU free from your pain, hurt, and bondage. In Luke 4:18-19 He says, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,”

Trust God enough to talk openly with Him. Trust Him with your deepest pains and your past regrets. Trust that when you tell Him these things, though He already knows, that He is going to bring you healing through it. He may bring someone into your life to lift you up. He may ask you to forgive someone who has hurt you. Or, He may be urging you to seek help from a Christian counselor or group. God hears you and He will never leave you. He will always lead you through your healing and bring you to a place of redemption.

Prayer Focus

  • Ask God to give you a tender and open heart.
  • Be honest with Him about your pains, grief, and regrets.
