But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Our Relationship With God: Identity
Life can have a way of thrusting a variety of false identities at you. They can come from people pleasing, trying to blend in with the crowd, or sometimes from the expectations of parents and authority figures. As a new creation in Christ, it’s God’s will for you to embrace a brand new identity that is rooted in the truth and free from the lies of the past.
The pathway to experiencing true freedom starts by discovering your new identity in Christ. The lie of shame would have you try to hide and conceal your need for change and transformation, but doing so only delays your progress. By humbly recognizing and admitting the areas of your life that need transformation, you make room for God to move in and begin the process.
As you experience new levels of freedom, you will welcome the growth that transformation brings to every area of your life. Knowing and believing the truth of how God sees you will help you to reject lies, accusations and temptations designed to rob you of your freedom.
As your identity is transformed by God’s truth, you will become all that He has created you to be. Then you will increasingly reflect God’s glory, which is the blessing of your inheritance as His child.
Ask the Holy Spirit to give you freedom from your past and to fill you with love, joy, and peace, so that you may walk in freedom.
Pray that God would remind you of your new identity in Christ.
