So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. -2 Corinthians 5:16-19

Our Relationship with God: A New Creation in Christ
When you believe in Christ, you become a new creation. The Bible states you’ll be putting off the old and putting on the new. Ephesians 4:22-24 (NIV) says, “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
This process involves ridding yourself of old habits, old thinking, old behaviors, and old attitudes that you’ve been accustomed to, so you can be transformed into a new creation in Christ. Is this easy to do? No! However, when you surround yourself with godly people who will help you throw off these old habits, you will be much more successful at putting on your new self.
As a believer and follower of Christ, you have a foe who seeks to spoil your good efforts. One way Satan does this is through temptation. He understands your weak spots and knows that if you bite his bait, you’ll most likely forfeit control. When temptation comes, do what the Bible says, draw close to God, and resist the bait. Also remember, change does not happen overnight. You need to exercise daily in godliness, causing you to become more Christlike in thought, conduct, attitude, and character.
Today, ask the Holy Spirit to help you throw off your old habits, attitudes, and thinking.
Ask God to bring other believers around you to help in resisting Satan’s temptations and to help keep you accountable.
