Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles us. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. –Hebrews 12:1 NIV
Never Give Up
As a runner, I trained hard. Everything I ate, drank, or did had one purpose—to equip me to win my race. During the race I never focused on how far I had to go; instead, I focused on how far I’d come. When others said I couldn’t do it, I didn’t let their negativity phase me one bit.
When my body wanted to give up, I stopped and pushed past the pain and told myself to keep going. When I crossed the finish line, I celebrated the victory over defeat. I was so thankful that I had trained hard and had never given up.
Our lives are often just like a race. If we don’t train to win, we’ll be open to defeat. Focus on how far you’ve come in Christ, not how far you still have to go. Don’t listen to naysayers; instead, surround yourself with those who believe in you.
When you’re tempted to give up, dig your heels in deeper and push through the pain. Refuse to give up, because the Father never gives up on you. You will cross the finish line, you will celebrate victory. He who empowers you will strengthen you. NEVER give up.
Be determined to win, and don’t accept defeat. Run your race by faith, not by sight.
Don’t rely on your own strength. The Father will equip you with what you need to overcome.
