My Abba

And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” –Galatians 4:6 NLT

The Jewish word for father is abba. Abba is mentioned three times in the Bible (Mark 14:36, Romans 8:15, Galatians 4:6). The word abba in these verses expresses intimacy with our heavenly Father. Your Abba wants intimacy with you, His child. He longs for you to seek Him with all your heart. He longs for you to draw nearer every waking moment. He listens ever so attentively to your praises of worship, and He listens ever so tenderly for your cries of despair and sorrow. When you are sad, He encourages you; when you are ashamed, He lifts your head up high; when you cry, He wipes your tears with loving hands; and when you fall, He will lift you up and dust you off. If you cannot walk, He picks you up and carries you the rest of the way.Rejoice today and every day that you have an Abba Father who loves you so much. Thank Him for His abounding unconditional love and grace. Rejoice that He loves you so intensely that He redeemed you through the precious blood of the Lamb.
