Monday | September 23 | Breakthrough

So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him. –Isaiah 59:19 KJV

Breakthrough: a sudden, dramatic, and important discovery or development. Synonyms can include a quantum leap forward, a step in the right direction, or an improvement. It’s also considered a warfare, penetrating beyond and through an enemy’s defensive front line.

In some form or fashion, we all need a breakthrough. Nothing feels better than finally getting past the attack and on to victory. When the sun breaks through the clouds after a storm passes, it feels so good on our skin. Better yet is the feeling of peace of mind and heart when we break through an attack on our soul. When the SON shines on us, He brings clarity, peace, and joy, and He calms the storms of life. We experience joy unspeakable, and it’s full of glory.

When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Lord will raise up a standard against him. Nothing, no one, can steal our joy unless we let them. When we are in the middle of a battle, breaking through can often seem impossible. The enemies’ schemes, strategies, and overwhelming threats often make us tremble in fear. We forget who’s really in charge of the battle. Charge, breakthrough, and don’t retreat. The battle is the Lord’s.

Prayer Focus

  • Remember, the battle is the Lord’s.
  • Pray for the strength to endure, hold fast, and not retreat.
