Making Sense of the Unknown | Monday | September 17

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given you.

–James 1:5 NIV

You may not understand how gravity works, but you know that it keeps you grounded. You may not be able to explain the dynamics of electricity, but without it your life would come to a standstill. You may never understand unkind people, but you can learn from them what not to become. You may not be good at following directions, but you can know where you’re going.

Life is full of things we don’t understand, but we can benefit from their presence. Eventually, everything that has happened to us, no matter how painful, will make sense. Like a jigsaw puzzle with no picture to go by, we still put it together one piece at a time. If we don’t give up, it eventually all comes together.

Life isn’t for cowards, it’s filled with battles, victories, successes, and defeats, what can be shaken will be. But there is one thing that never changes, one surety we can stand upon—God is faithful! It may seem like the worst day of your life, but joy comes in the morning. It’s tough navigating through life’s challenges, but you’re not doing it alone. The unknown is always known by our Father.

Prayer Focus

  • Father, please grant me wisdom to rely on Your guidance for my life!
  • Please help me to trust You even when everything doesn’t make sense! I want to live my life in obedience to how You are calling me to act.
