Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
–1 John 4:7-8 NKJV
If you listen long enough to the voices telling you who you should be, you grow deaf to the beauty of who you are in Christ. Your identity, security, and acceptability come from how God created you—not how you feel!
Know this, the serpent—the enemy of your soul—tries to make you feel alone and on trial; the “prosecutor” tries to make your life a trial after trial in hopes of keeping you feeling condemned. He poisons you endlessly with lies. Remember, you are God’s beloved. Writer Ann Voskamp, says, “Isn’t the fear that you are not enough really the lie that God isn’t enough?”
Allow yourself to be loved by God. This is one of the awesome treasures found in the Bible. He loves you! The theme of His story is redemption through Jesus. You are to “be loved” by God through the perfect sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross. Knowing this truth sets you free and allows that perfect love to flow into your heart and allows His Holy Spirit to dwell in and guide you through this life.
- Thank God that you are His child and that He loves you (1 John 3:1).
- Ask Holy Spirit to help you live a life filled with love, following Christ’s example (see Ephesians 5:2).
