Choose Peace

Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.] -John 14:27 AMP

Today’s verse is perfect for when you are struggling with fear because it reminds you that fear and worry—and all of your other emotions—are a choice. You have the ability to walk in peace or you have the ability to be fretful and walk in doubt and fear and worry.

In John 14:26, Jesus said that He would send the Comforter who will “cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance)” everything Jesus has told you. The more time you spend with God and in His Word, the more often you are able to plant His Truths into your heart. On days when you struggle to believe anything is good, He can remind you that He loves you, that He is with you, and you are fearfully and wonderfully made.

What emotions or feelings are you walking in? The Bible says the fruit of the Spirit—the result of walking with the Spirit—is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Nowhere does it say that walking with the Spirit produces fear, frustration, feelings of abandonment, or worry.

We must each make a choice. Take that fear and cast it off onto a Father who loves you and isn’t afraid of your fears so He can remind you each and every day that you have nothing to fear.

He is with you and He will never leave nor forsake you.

Prayer Focus

  • Ask God to constantly remind you of his love for you.
  • Pray against fear when it comes. Declare the truth of God’s word in your life.
