Let Not

AUGUST 8TH, 2021      |     If you had one last chance to impart wisdom and truth to your closest friends, what would you say? Would you regale them with stories of times gone by, would you speak words of love? On their last evening together, Jesus took one last opportunity to teach those closest to Him. In His discourse He summed up life and ministry, while declaring things that were yet to come. He spoke words of peace and promised a Comforter. And He admonished them to “Let not your hearts be troubled….”

As He looked to His arrest and crucifixion, Jesus knew what the next few days held for Him personally and for His followers. Perhaps you are facing trying days. There is no seven-step plan to get you through the day of trouble, but there is a promise of His rest and peace. Beloved, with every troubled time in life, we have an opportunity to trust God and to declare that our hope and strength is in Him. All we have to do is “Let not”—His love and grace will do the rest.

Let Not

…Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

John 14:26-27 ESV

Thank Jesus for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Ask that His ways would be revealed in your life.

Pray for those around you who are in troubled times. Speak words of hope and peace to them.
