Labor Day

SEPTEMBER 6TH, 2021      |      It’s Labor Day! Celebrated the first Monday in September, many of us enjoy a three-day weekend (of shopping and eating).

Per the US Department of Labor, the day is actually “dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers—a national tribute to the contribution workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.” With an unemployment rate of about 5-6 percent, many Americans have much to be thankful for on this Labor Day.

God appreciates those with a good work ethic: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters” (Colossians 3:23 NIV). God worked hard for six days creating the earth and all that is seen and unseen. On the seventh day, He rested. Let’s take our rest in Him as we celebrate this national holiday—then work for His glory come Tuesday morning!

You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.

Pray that your work and attitude reflect God’s image at home and in the workplace.

Pray that your coworkers see Jesus in you—that you are a good example of His love and grace and mercy.
