Jehovah Shalom

MAY 31ST, 2020      |       The sixth chapter of Judges tells us how the Midianites terrorized the people of Israel, making their lives miserable, torturous, and impoverished. God lifted a man called Gideon from the weakest clan, Manasseh. Gideon considered himself to be the least in his father’s house.

However, Gideon went on to defeat the Midianites with the power of Jehovah Shalom. When Gideon accepted God’s call, he built an altar to the Lord and called it Jehovah Shalom, which means, “The Lord Is Peace” (Judges 6:24 NIV). Gideon, in the midst of a threat against Israel’s small army—the threat of being wiped out—still proclaimed the altar as Jehovah Shalom.

This is a good lesson for us! In times of spiritual attack and warfare, we need to know with all certainty that the God of Peace is with us. Church, we cannot back down. We must move onward, for the God of peace always has the upper hand in your every situation. Let us do battle as children of the God Most High. He will give you the peace to know that you will have victory over the enemy. Amen!

God, clothe me with Your armor (Ephesians 6:10-18) so I am equipped for battle!

Holy Spirit, empower me to fight in the strength that You give me, for it is not by might or power but by Your Spirit.
