It’s Your Thing

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

–Ephesians 2:10 NKJV

What is the thing you were created to do? Not that thing everyone else wants you to do, but what God wants you to do. God has given you gifts; He created you to bless Him and others through your gifts. As the Word tells you in 1 Peter 4:11 (NKJV), “…with the ability that God supplies, that in all things may God be glorified…”

Psalms 37:4 (NKJV) tells you to “delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” What captivates your heart, what’s your passion? Writing, teaching, and encouraging are just a few gifts with which people are blessed. Pray and truly seek God for wisdom and direction to find the thing that you have inside you. God created you specifically to be you and not someone else.

If you don’t know what your gifts are, start serving others in various ways and see what energizes you and blesses others. There is satisfaction in this life, greater than anything the world has to offer, and it is discovering the thing God has planted in you, what God has called you to do. Expand your skills and knowledge and then use your “thing” to inspire and bless others.

Prayer Focus

  • Thank God for designing you for a specific purpose which will give you happiness, joy and fulfillment.
  • Ask Holy Spirit to help you minister to others in the gifts that God gave to you.
