It Pays to Listen

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. –Philippians 4:19 NIV

It Pays to Listen

If you are facing a tough situation, and fear has you wondering if God hears, cares, or will meet your need, here’s a true story to encourage you.

After Hurricane Irma, a man from Orlando called Bayside Community Church’s office wanting to donate a house full of furniture to someone who had lost theirs in the hurricane. The church office staff person had just hung up from talking with a single mom who’d lost everything and was asking for prayer. She received prayer—and a house full of furniture. Coincidence? I think not, it was more of a divine appointment. God placed on a man’s heart to help someone he didn’t even know, because He is a God of love.

God is Jehovah Jirah, our Provider, the God who looks ahead and makes provision for us. If He did it for that single mother, He’ll do it for you. Whatever you are facing, trust Him. He will always be with you; He’ll never leave or forsake you. He knows your need before you do. By the time you realize what’s going on, He’s already been at work getting everything lined up to meet your need. He just has to find someone willing to listen to Him. It pays to listen.

Recall all the times God has provided for you in the past when you are fearful about the future.

Rest in the assurance that your heavenly Father has your back. He’ll never abandon you.
