You are wives, husbands, sons, and daughters. You want to be good people, serve others, take care of your bodies, and spend time with Jesus. And sometimes you expect yourself to do all of this more or less flawlessly.
When you don’t, you may either dig in your heels, continuing to press forward or you are paralyzed by the enormity of what you need to do finally be good enough. All that striving is breaking hearts, damaging homes, and putting insurmountable pressure on marriages and children.
It’s not how much you do or have that make you who you are. It’s your hearts. When you were younger, you may have seen adulthood as something that you arrived at fully prepared for. But now you know growing more like Christ, embracing your God-given strengths and submitting them with your weaknesses is a life-long journey.
Dreams and passions are wonderful, they give you vision. They require you to lean on God as He brings you to areas that are much bigger than yourself. If you want to improve your life, you must adjust your expectation of what it should look like.
