Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. –Isaiah 7:14 NIV
Isaiah was a prophet in the Old Testament who prophesized about the birth of Jesus long before He was born. God’s Son was the fulfillment of this Old Testament prophecy. He was the long-promised Savior, and His mission was to save His people. When Jesus came to earth, He literally became “God with us,” Immanuel. This all happened through a Baby born on Christmas day. When God the Father looked at our sin-filled world, He saw how much we needed a Savior. He chose to give us His only Son, who took our sin upon Himself so we could have the assurance of eternal life. Jesus provided grace, hope, and love to the world. In Psalm 139:7-10 David wrote, “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” Truly Immanuel is “God with us.” He will never leave us nor forsake us. What an incredible gift to celebrate this Christmas season!
Thank You, Lord, for sending Your Son to earth to save me! Father, I am so grateful that you chose to send Jesus to earth to be “God with us.
” What a wonderful gift!
