Held Up Together

…Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side.  -Exodus 17:12 NIV

When the Amalekites attacked the Israelites, Moses gave Joshua his orders and then asked his friends, Aaron and Hur, to accompany him to the top of the hill during the battle, knowing his friends would never abandon him.

Are you battling something today? Perhaps your marriage, your children, your job, your finances or a medical issue has you in a constant battle. And you’re so stressed to the core that your heart aches for long ago days you think will never be again. What are you to do?

Follow Moses’ example. He took two people to stand with him for his part of the battle. Those two people eventually held him up when he had no strength left of his own. When Moses lifted his hands up to the Lord, the Israelites were winning. But, when he lowered his hands, the other side was winning.

If you’re in a battle and you feel like the “other side” is winning, don’t give up. Call in reinforcements! Lift your hands up to the Lord and ask others to join you—those who, when you’re too weak and weary, will hold you up. You were never meant to walk through life alone. Call upon your family of believers to stand with you and win the battle.
