Heavenly Noise

OCTOBER 7TH, 2020      |       Noisy leaf blowers and lawn mowers, honking horns and screeching tires, garbage truck clamor, blaring music, chattering children, vacuum cleaner racket, all interspersed with smartphone beeps and babble add up to daily worldly noise that makes us want to scream, “I NEED SOME PEACE AND QUIET!”

The word “peace” is found many times throughout the Old and New Testaments. Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6) and God gives you the peace that passes our limited understanding (Philippians 4:7). So where can you find peace and quiet when you need it? Jesus tells you in Matthew 6:6 to “go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place….” Jesus Himself sought God’s peace and quiet by praying alone (Luke 9:18; John 6:15; Luke 22:41-42).

Prayer can eliminate any earthly noise trying to distract you—any windy troubles or stormy situations. Jesus says it best, “Peace, be still!” And there was a great calm. May you never stop creating “Heavenly Noise” by singing, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty!”

Ask God to help you designate a special place where you can find peace and quiet and eliminate chaos and concerns.

Pray that God will show you how to decrease the noise pollution in your life and home.
