Heaven Awaits Us

Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. –1 Peter 2:11 NLT

In spite of life’s goodness, at times we may sense that something is still amiss. Perhaps it’s because we don’t fully belong—we are homesick. What does the Bible say about Heaven? It says that God’s preparing a new Heaven and new earth, where everything will be made fresh and all will be perfect. Heaven is a place of exquisite beauty and has streets of pure gold. There will be the tree of life yielding its twelve kinds of fruits each month. There are treasures in Heaven—an inheritance that’s not perishable. There will be no more tears, no more illness, no more death, and no more darkness, for the Lord God shines and is the Light. There will be no more hunger or thirst. There will be no wicked people. Nothing evil is allowed. When we step into our heavenly homeland, it will be a place of rest and belonging. We will have redeemed, resurrected bodies fit for eternity in Heaven. Heaven is the home of righteousness where there is no separation. It is a place of harmony and unity, a place of eternal praise to God. Talk about something to eagerly look forward to while journeying onward in finishing well this ordinary game of life here on earth.
