Good Works

NOVEMBER 4TH, 2022      |    Some may insist that they are good people and will go to Heaven because of their good works. However, Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV) says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Salvation is not about what we do, but rather about what Jesus did for us. Once we realize the price Jesus paid on the Cross and accept His free gift of salvation, our good works will surely follow. But redemption is not about our efforts to reach God, but rather about God reaching down to us, sending His Son to take our place. If our good works were all that were needed to ensure our eternal salvation, then Jesus’ death on the cross was in vain.

Good works are an outgrowth of faith. These actions are not the reason for salvation. We are saved by grace –God’s unmerited favor. If we could work to earn something, it’s not grace. With grace, we get the opposite of what we deserve. We cannot earn it, nor do we deserve it. It is simply a gift.

Good Works

But no, all have turned away; all have become corrupt. No one does good, not a single one!

Praise God each day for sending His Son to take your place on the Cross.

Thank God for His grace that is freely given to you.
