When God Disappoints

Can you identify with the disciples’ reaction to Jesus’ death? What they thought would happen, didn’t. Jesus was going to save the world—not die on a cross, they believed.

How many times has Jesus let you down? Maybe you were sure that you would get that job you prayed for or God was going to fix a family situation.

Understand this: He has a plan for your situation.

James 1:2 says to consider it a joy when you face trials because trials produce a person who is “mature and complete.” Could it be that God is using your situation to mold you into something better? He has plans for you that are bigger than where you are now.

The disciples were sulking as they discussed Jesus’ death but then Jesus showed up. He reminded them of the promises and how those promises were fulfilled.

God’s ending was bigger and better than the disciples’ ending and it will be in your life too.

You’re going to be amazed when God comes through. It likely won’t be what you prayed for; it will be bigger and better. God has written fantastic endings since the beginning of time. He’s going to do it with your situation too.

Prayer Focus

  • Don’t pray for the ending. Pray that God will write an ending that is bigger than you could have imagined.
  • Pray for patience as you wait on God.
