What Do You Hate?

Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked. –Psalm 97:10 NIV

What is it that God wants you to fight for? He calls you to hate evil but there’s likely one or two areas that truly break your heart. Know this: If God has placed that fire in your heart, He placed it there so you can take action. If it breaks your heart to see the homeless population in your community struggling to find a meal, God wants you to help feed them. If you constantly think about the needs of the elderly, God wants you to take on that mission.

Prayer is powerful; it’s essential, and it’s your first weapon to fight evil but it’s not the only one. What if Paul lived his life only praying for those people God called him to love? What if Moses and David were awesome prayer warriors but nothing more? The Bible would read much differently if God’s people never acted on what God called them to do. What if you say no to the mission field God placed on your heart?

Whatever form of evil God has called you to really hate, it needs more of your attention than prayer. God has already equipped you with tools to fight the battle and as you go forth and fight, he will equip you even more. He never promised it would be easy but it will be impactful. When you act on your calling, God will do something mighty in your life as well. If Christianity has felt a little empty, live your calling. That feeling will quickly disappear.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray that God reveals to you where he wants you not only pray, but act.
  • Pray that God brings people and resources to you to accomplish the mission He has set in front of you.
