Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us. –Romans 15:1 MSG
Full of Yourself
I once read, “When you’re full of yourself, God can’t fill you. But when you empty yourself, God has a useful vessel.”
How many people you know think they have all the answers? They are trying to comfort us, but it is out of their depth at times. We can only be of help to one another when the advice we give is reinforced biblically.
When we are counseling others with human wisdom alone, we fail them. Any advice that we are given could be just the opposite of what we need. The given advice has to point to the Word of God.
We can’t fix things when we only see in part. God sees the beginning to the end. Without God in the middle, we could end up with more uncertainty than we started with. We have to trust the Lord for the right pathway and believe that God is the answer to our problems. Don’t miss out on the results that only He can bring.
Hebrews 13:8 (NIV) tells us, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Don’t be full of yourself—let God fill you.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you point to God and not human wisdom.
Always show Christ-like love and compassion when you are praying for loved ones.
