“I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.” –Revelation 1:8 NLT
From Trough to Tomb to Throne!
Two of my favorite holidays are Christmas and Easter. At Christmas, I enjoy celebrating the birth of Jesus. At Easter, I relish in Christ’s resurrection. Christmas represents His humbleness as a babe laying in a trough. Easter signifies His glorious resurrection from the tomb as the risen Lord.
If not for Jesus Christ, we would not have these two holy days printed on our calendars to celebrate. These holidays should be reminders to us that Jesus previously came as a babe, Christ presently dwells among us through His Spirit, and He is coming back again as the King of kings and Lord of lords.
If Jesus was never born, there would be no Christmas to celebrate. If Christ didn’t rise from the dead, there would be no Easter on which to rejoice. Thus, it’s good to give glory, praise, and honor to Christ Jesus who transitioned from a trough, to a tomb, to His throne!
And for all those other days on our calendars, may we anxiously, steadfastly await His glorious, powerful encore! Regardless of what day it is, today, give praise “to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen” (Jude 1:25 ESV).
Lord, today I lift Your name up high! Lord, I love to sing Your praises! Jesus, I’m so grateful that You came to save me.
Jesus, have Your way in me. May Your light shine through all my cracks so others can witness You living Your life through me.
