Fine-Tuned Vision

Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, and revive me in Your way.

–Psalm 119:37 NKJV

Reality TV. Talk shows. Gossip shows. Constant cooking shows. Nonstop news networks. The Internet. Social media. Blogs. Political websites. Gambling websites. Dating websites. Pornography. Cell phones. iPads. Apps. Podcasts. The list goes on, and on, and on. How exhausting! There are so many distractors that can take your eyes away from God and lead you down a worthless path.

Despite your best intentions, it can be hard to focus on whatever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report (see Philippians 4:8 NKJV) when you are surrounded by so many subtle and, at times, obvious distractions. Yet, you can be encouraged that God can fine-tune your vision. He can remove distractions from your life and help you to focus on things He deems worthy.

Give Him your time. Then, He can give you peace and passion for His Word and His will, which give life, as opposed to distractors that steal your time and plant seeds that have the potential to destroy lives. He can shift your focus. Over time, He can revive and renew your mind to be used for His purpose.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray for God to eliminate distractions from your daily life.
  • Ask God to help you to focus on His Word and His will.
