Experiencing God’s Love

…And I pray that you…may have power…to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ -Ephesians 3:18-19 NIV

The phrase “may have power…to grasp” means to make it more than just a concept. A concept is head knowledge. God wants you to know His love for you as heart knowledge, as experience knowledge.

Before her first baby is born, many moms have an idea about what it’s going to be like. Perhaps she has friends with young children, or maybe she grew up with younger siblings or cousins and thinks her experience will be similar.

Maybe she read a book that told her what it would be like and gave her tips and techniques that left her feeling overly confident. She realized there would be bad days, but those would be rare.

Then the baby comes and it’s not as easy as all the books led her to believe. Truthfully, nothing—no book, person or previous experience could have prepared her for the personal experiences of being a first-time mom with her own little bundle of joy. Regardless of all the curveballs, she loves her new little baby so much that she can now sense on a higher level just how much God can really love her.

God’s love for you is not a concept that you can grasp by reading a book or listening to another person’s experience. It can only be realized through your own personal experiences with Him. If it’s been a while since you’ve experienced God’s love, ask Him to help you experience His love today.

Prayer Focus

  • Thank God that He wants to experience life and love with you.
  • Pray that you’ll seek to experience God’s love for you, individually and personally.
