The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us…. –Ephesians 1:18-19 NKJV

In Luke 15:11-32, Jesus tells the parable of the lost son. It says in Luke 15:17-19 (NLT) that the prodigal son was enlightened about his circumstances, “When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.”’”

How many times has our Father God forgiven us and shown us His compassion and mercy? In our moments of fleshly desires, we need to remember how much our Father in Heaven loves us. He sent Jesus, His only Son to die in our place! Are we doing our part to remain on guard, staying wide awake, and protecting ourselves from the evil lurking in the shadows?

Let the Holy Spirit be your guiding light. Instead of remaining in sin, let the Word of God fill you and enlighten you about how He can change your future if you let Him!

You are never too far away from Jesus to come back. Ask Him to forgive you for the path you’ve taken and turn back to Him today.

Father, thank You for loving me and chasing after me even when I don’t think I need You.
