Endurance Through Trials

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. -Psalms 125:1 NIV

Day after day, week after week, then month after month until yet another year passes. Questions begin to pile on and weigh you down. How much longer? Can I still do this? What if ________? There are some battles that may enter your life for the long haul.

Revealing biggest fears, they threaten to expose what you truly believe about God, life and love. Playing on weaknesses, they test vulnerability and the ability to actually endure. The bible is full of opposition, Hebrews 12:2-3 says, “For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart”.

Jesus endured the cross. But not only did He endure death on a cross, he was (1) betrayed, (2) arrested, (3) beaten, (4) rejected, (5) shamed, and (6) ridiculed. How did He do it? How did Jesus endure the cross? Is it possible He clung to faith? Remembered God’s love?

While you may face various difficulties here on earth, you can trust in a God whose love endures forever. He can’t be shaken. Psalms 125 says, “Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.” God’s name and renown shall endure forever. The hardship you’re enduring right now can’t undo the faithfulness of His enduring love. Press on and count it joy.

Prayer Focus

  • Thank God for the opposition that He endured and ask that He would give you the same endurance for your own life.
  • Ask God to help you see everything in your life with joy and peace, knowing that He has you anchored and unshakeable.
