Don’t Live in Impatience

In alert expectancy…we’re never shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!

–Romans 5:5 MSG

A man decided to take his young granddaughter fishing. He handed her the prepped pole and she dropped the line into the water. Within minutes, she caught her first fish. He prepped the pole and handed it back to her. Again, within minutes, she caught another fish. This continued to happen. Later, when 5 minutes went by with no bite, she looked at her grandfather and said, “This is boring,” and walked off the dock.

Expect for God to bless you immeasurably, but it’s easy to become impatient, like the little girl. When time passes without continuous outpouring or when the blessings don’t come in your desired shape and size, you may feel shortchanged. When you let God take control of your life, the blessings come. They may not look the way you expected them to look, but they are blessings nonetheless.

Let God be the author of your life. When you do, things become peaceful, enjoyable, and fulfilling.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray that God will show up abundantly and at the perfect time.
  • Ask God to give you a sense of contentment.
