Don’t Compare, Just Bloom | Wednesday | February 27

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. –Ephesians 2:10 NIV

There are about 400,000 known species of flowering plants in the world. Some are delicate and need special care, while others can grow out of cracks in the sidewalk. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors; yet they’re all beautiful in their own way. Some have an intoxicating aroma, while others have a repulsive smell. Some look beautiful but are poisonous to touch. They coexist in a world of beauty.

Women are like flowers, yet we don’t always coexist well. The greatest injustice is that we compare ourselves to each other and come out feeling inadequate. I know many women who were better mothers than me, but I was the best mother I knew how to be. There are many grandmothers who put me to shame, but no one loves their grandchildren more than I do. A rose isn’t better than a marigold—they’re just different.

If you perceive someone else is better at something than you, STOP! You are unique, you are beautiful, and you are equipped to be the only you there is. We can coexist in a world of beauty. We’re all created in the image of God.

Prayer Focus

Concentrate on who you are, not what you aren’t.

Pray for wisdom to be thankful for our differences and to bloom where you’re planted.
